It was not the PCOS machines but the fast communication transmisssion of results stupid

Looking back at the May 10 presidential polls, this blogger believe that the fast transmission of precinct results contributed more to the the nil or low incidence of cheating in this election rather than the use of PCOS machines. In this era of inexpensive cell phones, there is no justification for slow release and transmission of results.

Consider the India which has a bigger voting population than the Philippines. It only takes 4 days to know completely the election results for the whole subcontinent. And even with the automated elections, we have the spectacle of the close vice presidential race because the results of some precincts like in the Visayas and Mindanao were still not transmitted as of now! Incredible.

Yet we understand that the results of the president and vice-president will only be known when Congress returns in session. The schedule for Congress to start tabulating must be moved forward! say one week after the election day.

Technology is not a solution, but it can only help in conducting a credible election. Consider the countries of Ireland and Germany. They still have manual counting and voters and the general population as a whole is not complaining.

The Amazing Binay

Jeojamar Binay, the former mayor of Makati City and whose new mayor is his son, may have caused an upset in the Vice-presidential race by besting other candidates. Binay did not appear in the top 2 positions in previous surveys except for a surge near the election day itself. It is only about 57 percent of total votes cast, so we will know if Mar Roxas can overtake him tomorrow or the day after.

Candidates do not have to shell out billions of false advertising since ultimately it will backfire on them. So the surprise in this election is the amazing leading position of Binay in the VP race.

We do not want to think that there is a conspiracy to make Binay the winner when all past poll surveys indicate Mar Roxas at the top. It is just incredible and may be a litmus test for the electronic voting. This may make the Aquino presidency weaker but Binay is a known supporter and family friend of the Aquinos.

The best advice we can suggest for Mar is NOT to concede and let Congress open and count the votes which they are empowered by law.

Vice presidential poll closed. Mar Roxas leads the pack with 66%.

Here is our final results for the Vice-presidential survey hosted in our blog: For this small survey of only 18 votes cast, we can't really make any firm conclusions.
But we can haphazard our guess that Mar Roxas is a big winner followed by Binay.
After Binay, Edu, Bayahani and Chimpeco shared the next rank while Legards, Yasay and Sonza are in the bottom of the heap.

Vice-presidential Poll

VillarÅ› PSE influence peddling. Are you really surprised?

Sen. Villar and his supporters cannot and and will not deny that Sen. Villar appeared before the PSE Board seeking approval of his Vista Land stock listing.

It is legalistic and symptomatic of him to assert that there were no "written" laws broken. What the good senator forgot is that the spirit of political service and the Constritution has been broken. Nobody did it better than Villar in stretching to the extreme the bounds of morality and decency in the unholy mixing business with politics.

And they cannot complain "Why only now?", when referring to the 2007 stock listing of Vista Land.
They should apply it to their black propaganda of Noynoy being an owner of the BEST Security company and raking in lucrative *contracts(what contracts? where?) from many, many years back, 1987+ something.

Shame!

*Only one contract with the PNCC and is still in effect and through the administration of Aquino, Ramos, Estrada and Arroyo.

Is the Comelec paying attention??!! : How could Villar spend 2 billion plus on campaigining with only 29 million in cash declared in his SALN (2008)?

An interesting disqualification case against Villar by a lawyer brought up this interesting question given in the postÅ› title.

If Villar claimed that his campaign funds came from his real estate businesses, specifically Vista Land and Lifescapes, Inc., which has Polar Property Holdings, Corp., Calveston Investments Limited, Althorp Holdings, Inc., Cameron Global Limited Golden Haven Memorial Park, Inc. and Cambridge Inc. as its shareholders, then this is an admission that he is violating Section 95 of the Omnibus Election Code (OEC),wwhich prohibits local corporations and foreign companies from giving political campaign contributions to any candidate in the elections!

Violation of the OEC is an election offense, which is punishable by disenfranchisement, one to six years imprisonment, and disqualificationf from holding public office.

What is the Comelec doing about this??!!!!

It will be much more dramatic, more physical, more nail-biting , more dirty into the homestretch of the presidential campaign.

Fooliticks, opinion, and satire.

It seems that commentators are having a field day regarding Noynoy's pseudo pschiatric report brazenly setup by the NP dirty tricks department. As the frontrunner, Noynoy should expect mud slung at him most of the time by his detractors. Strangely Villar has the naughty attitude that the ends justify the means.Trailing in the opinion polls, he has to come up with anything he can grab on to fling at the Aquino LP campaign.

People demands that Noynoy subject himself to psychiatric testing to prove once and for all , the allegations hurled by a FALSE report. Commentators have focused much on the lack of performance to show that Aquino will make a good president. To these commentators, let them have Gloria before she became president.Psychiatric testing is not required for candidacy! Let Congress enact laws first to enforce such requirement!

There are a lot of things that crosses one mind about this presidential campaign.

1. Villar's SALN cannot cover his media camapaign expenses which runs into the billions. As he boasted that he is only using his own money. who , what orgainiztions back up this superrich candidate?

2. Villar putting a positive spin to his low and lagging survey standing in SWS by comparing its result with Pulse Asia! harks to supreme intellectual dishonesty.

3. Villar trumpeting his family's previous poverty as a factor in the death of his brother (due to leukemia) and his continuing false advertising as 'mahirap' shows that Villar may be suffering from congenital lying.

4. Villar's braggadacio about his managerial skills does not hold water. What happened to Capitol's bank? What did he do to nearly bankrup the GSIS, and SSS?

5. Why does the Comelec seems to hate the Liberal Party and removing duly elected LP governors such as Padaca and Among Ed? Why in the case of the latter, votes for 'Among' were not counted for the governor in the recounting?

6. Why was the name of Acosta NOT stricken out of the printed ballots? There was still plenty of time to rectify this stupid mistake. There should have been a due diligence study before his candidacy was approved.

We could give you more but we stop. There are better commentators than us and we request readers to read again the articles of Bill Esposo and Winnie Monsod.

May be continued....

Did an Ateneo professor (not a psychiatrist) wrote a report about Noynoy psychiatric problems?

I just read that an Ateneo professor Prof. Carmelo caluas denied authoring a psychiatric document

Is Villar hallucinating? Villar banks on managerial ability to run RP if elected

The first thing Villar will do if elected is to "loot" the republic to recover his billions of pesos spent in his election camapaign, before, during and after the official start of the campaign period.

Next, this inveterate and invertebrate liar, resorting to even manufacturing a sob story about their family poverty as a contributing factor to his brother Danny's death to leukemia is NOT and was never a good enterpreneur, nearly bankrupting the SSS and GSIS, his own CAPITOL Bank during his real estate business growth. What proof Villar can give to to this "excellent enterpreneurship"???

Villar is not running to serve the interests of the republic but to serve HIS own!
In fact he never CUT-OFF his ties to his business while he was congressman, senator and now still, hold this! a presidential candidate.

This is too much. It is high time that people awaken to the real truths about Moneyed Manny Villar.

Villar millions unable to stem slide in popularity in latest surveys.

After cleverly spending millions in almost daily advertising during the last months of 2009, which is not illegal as it was not yet in the official campaign period for presidential elections, Villar must be wondering wondering the ephemeral nature of spikes in presidential surveys. As of today, Noynoy Aquino leads comfortably by a safe margin, in the latest Pulse Asia survey. We repeat the telling results in the following table.

March. 10 Pulse Asia Survey Results
Rank Candidate Percentage
1Aquino37
2Villar25
3Estrada18
4Teodoro7
5Gordon2
6Villanueva 2
7Perlas0.30
8Delos Reyes 0.20
9Madrigal0.10
10>Acosta0.08
Src: GMANEWS.TV Pulse Asia Survey

The Undecided category totalled 9.00 %. There were a total of 3,000 respondents. Acosta was not yet
disqualified at that time and his name appeared in the list.

Villar also now has a problem of fending off charges of hyperbolic untrue depiction of
his family poverty in Tondo, when they have a 3 storey house and on the death of his
brother "Danny" due to the unavailibility of family funds for medicines and drug. His
brother died actually due to leukemia , which was considered untreatable during those
previous years.

Villar now complains about media practitioners and bloggers about the black propaganda,
the charges that he is a closet "Villaroyo" candidate and that he has a big fucking deal
with the first gentleman.

Next month is May! We hope that the presidential candidates will not be killed (you can win when
you don't have opponents!) and that the Supreme Court gets its prestige back by not giving
credit to Utang na Loob mentality.

Vested interests in full page adverisements attacking leading Vice-Presidential candidate.

I obtain my copies of Philstar if possible practically free by having breakfast (around 80 pesos with coffee) at Jollibee. Considering that the retail price is P20.00, you can say that Jollibee gets 20.00 from every meal everytime you dine within their diners.

Now back to the story, I was surprised that a group named People's Movement Against Poverty has taken full page advertisements in major newspapers lambasting Mar Roxas. Because it is printed publicly, I will copy manually for the benefit reader the contents of their charges:

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE CHEAPER MEDICINES ACT
Senator Mar Roxas, you have passed a WATERED DOWN VERSION of the ORIGINAL Cheaper Medicines Bill filed at the 13th and 14th
Congress by Representatives Rolex Suplicao and Ferjenel Biron respectively.

We DEMAND that you explain to the FILIPINO PEOPLE why your Cheaper Medicines Act sought to get LESS FOR THE PEOPLE and MORE for the PHARMACEUTAL COMPANIES.

Cheaper Medicines Bill of the 14th Congress Senate Bill 1658 Mar Roxas Version
Inclusion of 1500 essential medicines covered by the reduction of price. Limited reduction coverage to only 22 essential medicines
Maximum price reduction of 80-90% reduction of existing prices Limited maximum retail price reduction to only 50%

You hail your CHEAPER MEDICIENS Act- but in reality YOUR VERSION is only for the elite, the rich and perhaps the middle class.

80% of our Filipio people are living below the poverty line. Millions of Filipinos are suffering and even dying because with YOUR Cheaper Medicines Act, THEY STILL CANNOT AFFORD the high cost of essential medicines.

By your joint statment with your presidential candidate, if elected, your promise to further LOWER down the price of medicines. This is an ADMISSION that your version is flawed and watered down. Why then, did you not use the original bill?

Mr. Senator, we hold you responsible for the great tragedy that you have inflected upon our people.

Signed.
Ronald A. Lumbao
National Chairman
People's Movement Againset Poverty
No.84 Ilocos Sur St., Bago Bantay, Quezon City * Tel.NO.: 466-3181510-8240.

Certainly Mar Roxas cannot pass bills by his actions alone. Bills must pass both houses of Congress, the Lower House of Representatives and the Upper House of the Senate. So singling out Roxas is a puzzle. Why does the advertisement not mention those who voted for passage of the bill? And arent Rolex Suplicao and Ferjenel Biron Part of the proceedings in the passage of the bill.

To us, these representatives blame Congress for passing the bill. Are these two representatives saintly to hurl accusations against Mar Roxas?

Moreover, from the link (we request the reader to read it) Hontiveros:Biron protecting-GMA, vested interests.released Feb. 23 (more than a month already!)
that
Liberal senatorial bet and Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros today revealed that Iloilo Rep. Ferjenel Biron is taking the offensive to seek vengeance after he failed to protect his own vested interests and his principal—President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo—in the Cheaper Medicines Law. We discover something deeper: Hontiveros, co-author of the Cheaper Medicines Law, said

"the proposed Drug Price Regulatory Board of Biron would have representatives of pharmaceutical companies, which is a clear intrusion of vested interests in the law....Such regulatory board—like similar regulatory bodies in other industries—is susceptible to corruption and to “regulatory capture.”

She revealed that
Biron and his family owns Philippine Pharmawealth Inc. and Pharmawealth Laboratories, which have been suspended or disaccredited by the Department of Health and the Bureau of Food and Drug in numerous instances in the past due to its sale of substandard medicines.

So much for the expensive advertising! Now we know better....
And thru this all, this still does not help the candidacy of Loren Legarda and she trails Mar Roxas considerably.

The Presidential War in the Internet: official web page of the candidates.

We will only present web pages which changed a lot the last time we presented the official web pages of the presidential candidates. You can see previous web pages in our digital explorations site.

  1. Benigno Aquino [http://www.noynoy.ph]

His cousin does not believe in his Ha. Luisita promise. Can we believe Noynoy, ignoring Luisita?
  2. Erap Estrada[http://erap.ph]

Erap para sa mahirap is the message of this candidate, a former president. You know what happened don't you?

  3. Dick Gordon[http://www.dickgordon2010.com]

Simplest page of the lot. The candidate's photo exudes confidence and he looks frank.

Will Dick win outside of Olongapo? Is he in speaking terms with JC (another Olongapo native son)?
  4. Jamby Madrigal[http://www.jambymadrigal.com/]

Please click on her site. We cant strangely display her whole web site as a single image.

Only a miracle can make Jamby win but she will make a fine fiscalizer if she remained a candidate for senator. I learned a lot from her web page!

  5. Nicanor Perlas[http://www.nicanor-perlas.com/]

Nick heralds a new crop of earnest, honest candidates but the people will not be ready for them.

  6. JC delos Reyes[http://www.angkapatiranparty.com]

There seems to have NO major changes in the official web page of JC delos Reyes so we pass up on his webpage.

Lets be honest. We wonder why JC run for president?

  7. Gibo Teodoro[http://gibo.ph/]

Expect a lot of fireworks from Gibo this April. He is one major candidate with plenty of TV ads to air left. And don't forget he is after all the administration candidate.

  8. Ed Villanueva[http://broeddie.ph/]

He may not practically win, but he can try.

  9. Manuel Villar[http://www.mannyvillar.com.ph/]

His page shows awesomeness and high promises, but his TV ads verge on the OA and hyperbole.

Click on any image for a full resolution view. The images are in lossless png format.

We are having connection problems. And some snapshots(esp. of Madrigal) do not display the whole page. We will come back to this later to fix this and to add more comments.

We invite readers to comment.

Noynoy exceeded airtime at ABS-CBN?

Who is doing the counting? According to the rules, only 120 minutes airtime is allowed for each presidential candidate for each TV station. Well, here comes Comelec spokesman James Jimenez who claimed that Aquino has already used up 291.5 minutes of broadcast time while NP has already incurred 256.5 minutes of airtime on ABS-CBN between February 9 to March 12.

"They have maxed out their limits... everyone else is way below the limits for this particular channel," Jimenez said.

In an ambush interview in Valenzuela City, Aquino said he was not aware that he had exceeded the airtime limit.

"I have to check with my campaign staff and monitoring. I assume it would have been below the limit, especially given the very liberal ruling of the Comelec with regards to this," he said.

Aquino said he was last informed that he still had around 20 minutes of airtime left.

The crafty Villar has spent so much time advertising in TV before the official announcement of candidacy. This only shows that voting for Villar means voting for someone who bends the SPIRIT of the law to his advantage. Everything is legal. But deep in the hearts of the common man, something gnaws in his mind that someon was getting away legally with premature campaigning.

Let us see if Noynoy can wiggle out of this predicament.
Src: http://www.gmanews.tv/story/187090/noynoy-np-exceeded-air-time-limits-on-abs-cbn

News!! (Mar 28). Noynoy claims Comelec may have erred in computing his airtime.

Election Campaign Suspense: Who violated TV air-time limit?

The Comelec is having a ball playing a game of innuendos, suspicion and doubt by making the people wait until next week for the name of a leading candidate who exceeded TV airtime limit. The only candidate I know who done it and made the others catch up is moneyed Manny Villar if and only if you include the advertising before the official filing of candidacy.

The Comelec is making a powder keg which may blow up in its face. For the benefit of the Comelec, some civic minded organization Pera at Pulitika has computed the remaining TV time for us:

Remaining time(minutes) in major networks
CandidateABS-CBNGMA Network
Manny Villar 11.756.75
Noynoy Aquino22.5 7
Dick Gordon 5243
Gibo Teodoro120 120

Villar meanwhile, naturally could not help but cast doubt on the figures issued by the political ads monitoring group Pera at Pulitika.

He said:

“Mabuti at nagbabantay sila ng mga bilang ng ating mga advertisement. Sana lamang ay marunong silang bumilang (It’s good that they are monitoring the number of minutes of our advertisements. I just hope that they really know how to count)."

From the above excerpts, Gibo has shown a good General at war's strategy. Let the enemies expend too much time and energy. Then strike when they are tired. :)
